Night View of the Campbell Works, Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company

November 23, 1900: The Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company was founded by 55 local citizens who committed $600,000 to their vision that manufacturing should remain locally owned and managed. Ground was broken for the first plant along the Mahoning River, which would eventually become the Campbell Works.

In 1955, the first ever Fortune 500 list was compiled and Sheet and Tube ranked at number 70. Right behind Dow Chemical and larger than companies such as Coca-Cola, Heinz, Johnson & Johnson, Anheuser-Busch, and Marathon Oil, the company had revenue over $600 million and over 30,000 employees.

Today, after that tragic Black Monday,  The Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company's mission is to serve Youngstown by reimagining local manufacturing and commerce while keeping history alive. In addition to the Sheet and Tube brand itself, the Company seeks to creatively rebuild former local commercial institutions.
